Cố chủ tịch Samsung được coi là vị triết gia ẩn dật. Ông thường ở nhà và ngẫm nghĩ về tương lai của tập đoàn. Triết lý nổi tiếng của ông là “Hãy thay đổi mọi thứ trừ vợ con bạn”.

Theo Nikkei Asian Review, trước đây, cố Chủ tịch Samsung Electronics Lee Kun Hee thường tránh ánh mắt công chúng và thích ở nhà để suy ngẫm về tương lai của tập đoàn hơn là đi đến văn phòng.

Nhưng ông cũng nổi tiếng với những hành động quyết liệt như hủy toàn bộ điện thoại bị lỗi. Đó là cách ông Lee đưa công ty Hàn Quốc trở thành gã khổng lồ công nghệ toàn cầu.

Các hoạt động kinh doanh của tập đoàn hiện ước tính chiếm khoảng 15% toàn bộ nền kinh tế đất nước. Samsung Electronics, mảng lớn nhất của tập đoàn, là nhà sản xuất điện thoại thông minh, nhà cung cấp chip nhớ và màn hình hiển thị hàng đầu thế giới.

Là biểu tượng của giới kinh doanh, ông Lee Kun Hee nắm giữ khối tài sản 20,1 tỷ USD. Theo Forbes, ông là người giàu nhất đất nước 50 triệu dân và xếp hạng 75 trong danh sách những người giàu nhất hành tinh năm 2020.

“Chủ tịch Lee là người có tầm nhìn xa trông rộng. Ông đã thúc đẩy Samsung thành đế chế công nghiệp hàng đầu thế giới từ một doanh nghiệp địa phương, trở thành nhà đổi mới sáng tạo hàng đầu. Di sản của ông ấy sẽ mãi trường tồn”, đại diện Samsung cho biết trong thông báo về sự ra đi của ông.

Ông Lee Kun Hee tiếp quản tập đoàn Samsung vào năm 1987, sau cái chết của cha ông, nhà sáng lập tập đoàn Lee Byung Chull. Thời điểm đó, Samsung đã là một trong những tập đoàn lớn nhất Hàn Quốc. Nhưng trong mắt của ông Lee, tập đoàn vẫn còn thiếu nhiều điều.

Hoạt động của Samsung Electronics thời điểm đó tập trung vào các thiết bị gia dụng. Việc kiểm soát chất lượng đóng vai trò quan trọng trong việc thúc đẩy quy mô của công ty. “Samsung đang ở trong quá trình chuyển đổi rất quan trọng. Các cuộc họp do ông Lee điều hành thường rất khắc nghiệt và kéo dài đến 10 tiếng. Những người tham gia thậm chí không dám uống nước để tránh đi vệ sinh giữa buổi họp, làm gián đoạn thảo luận của vị chủ tịch.

Năm 1995, để nhấn mạnh tầm quan trọng của chất lượng sản phẩm, ông Lee đến thăm một nhà máy của Samsung ở thị trấn Gumi sau khi phát hiện lỗi trong một lô điện thoại di động.

Theo cuốn sách “Samsung Electronics và cuộc chiến dẫn đầu ngành công nghiệp điện tử” của tác giả Tony Michell, hơn 2.000 công nhân của nhà máy Gumi được tập trung tại một sân đất trống, mỗi người đeo băng đô ghi rõ “Chất lượng là trên hết”.

Ông Lee và ban giám đốc ngồi dưới biểu ngữ có nội dung “Chất lượng là niềm tự hào của tôi”. Những gì diễn ra sau đó đã trở thành huyền thoại. Các nhân viên nhà máy chứng kiến lô hàng trị giá 50 triệu, bao gồm điện thoại, máy fax và hàng tồn kho, bị đập vỡ thành từng mảnh và bốc cháy. Nhiều nhân viên đã bật khóc.

Vị triết gia trầm lặng

Vị cố chủ tịch thường giao hoạt động hàng ngày của Samsung cho các nhà quản lý. Trong khi đó, ông tập trung vào những quyết định lớn định đoạt số phận của tập đoàn.

Ông Lee hầu như không bao giờ xuất hiện trước công chúng và thậm chí hiếm khi đến văn phòng. Thay vào đó, ông ở nhà, vùi đầu vào sách báo và suy ngẫm về tương lai của Samsung. Vị chủ tịch cũng đưa bản sao của những cuốn sách mà ông đặc biệt ấn tượng cho các giám đốc điều hành khác. Đó là cách ông Lee chia sẻ mối quan tâm đối với tập đoàn.

Ngoài đọc sách, ông còn thích thưởng thức nghệ thuật như xem phim và nghe nhạc cổ điển. Cố chủ tịch Samsung cũng được miêu tả là người yêu thích vận động và các hoạt động thể thao như chơi golf, cưỡi ngựa, bóng bàn và trượt tuyết.

“Trầm lặng nhưng có sức lôi cuốn cao, ông Lee dường như nhìn thấu tâm can của mọi vấn đề”, Nikkei Asian Review bình luận. Ông buộc các giám đốc điều hành và nhân viên phải tập trung cao độ. Một trong những văn hóa doanh nghiệp của Samsung là phải kiểm tra hai đến ba lần mọi thứ để có được sự chấp thuận của “sếp lớn”.

Ông Lee đã dành nhiều thời gian ở Nhật Bản. Ông cũng giữ liên lạc với bạn học cũ và các nhà lãnh đạo doanh nghiệp lớn trong nước. Cố chủ tịch Samsung không chỉ quan tâm đến công nghệ mà còn sự phát triển kinh tế của Nhật Bản.

Với tư cách người đứng đầu tập đoàn lớn nhất Hàn Quốc, nhất cử nhất động của ông đều được công chúng quan tâm. Ông Lee từng bị kết tội về cách chuyển giao công việc kinh doanh cho con trai, Phó chủ tịch Samsung Electronics, Lee Jae Yong.

Hồi tháng 5/2020, con trai duy nhất của ông Lee tuyên bố sẽ không chuyển giao công việc kinh doanh của mình tại tập đoàn cho các con.

Sinh thời, ông Lee Kun Hee liên tục cảnh báo về sự tự mãn bên trong Samsung và nền kinh tế Hàn Quốc. “Chúng ta từng có những doanh nghiệp tiên tiến hơn, chỉ dẫn chúng ta như những ngọn hải đăng. Nhưng kể từ bây giờ, chúng ta cần tự mình vượt qua đại dương”, ông nhấn mạnh.

Phó chủ tịch Samsung giờ đây phải đối mặt với nhiệm vụ khó khăn là gánh vác di sản của cha mình. Một số người nhận xét ông Lee Jae Yong không có khả năng và phong thái lãnh đạo như cha mình.

Tuy nhiên, nhiều nhân viên trong Samsung nhận xét ông Lee Jae Yong cũng thừa hưởng từ cha mình tự duy kinh doanh nhạy bén. Chính sự lắng, điềm đạm của “thái tử” che giấu quyết tâm vững vàng bên trong, để giữ vị thế hàng đầu của đế chế mà người cha đã gây dựng.
